Message from the President

Message from the President

Welcome to our website!

We are an exciting, innovative and growing association that serves volunteer service administrators in the healthcare and human service fields across New York State.

Our Vision

Our vision is that the services, tools, resources and best practices we offer our members will be of such great value that we become “the association of choice!”

To achieve this bold vision, we are

  • Listening to our members to fully understand their needs, wants and preferences
  • Focusing on “adding value” for our members – so that by supporting our members, we also support generous volunteers across the entire state
  • Planning and prioritizing our efforts – because time, resources and money are finite

Strategic Planning

Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

Our bold vision will not just happen; instead, it has and will continue to take a lot of hard work!

To guide us, we’ve developed a Strategic Plan through June 2016. Generous and dedicated members lead this important work from five core pillars: Organization/structure; Member and professional development; Technology/marketing/communications; Funding and development; and Advocacy.

Our Members

Volunteer Service administrators usually don’t get the credit they are due! Oftentimes, misperceptions by organizational leadership minimize the efforts, challenges and impact that very dedicated volunteer administrators lead every day.

NYSAVSA is focused on supporting, advocating for, and promoting the vital role that volunteer administrators and their volunteers play within their organizations! A growing body of evidence supports this, and it is the role of a state association like NYSAVSA to provide best practice tool and resources that administrators can use in their work day-in and day-out!

To our members, we thank you for participating in NYSAVSA and we ask you to continue providing your local chapter and the state leadership with your input and feedback to help us understand your needs, wants and preferences!

It’s my pleasure to lead NYSAVSA as its president through May 2016!

Cheers and best,
